The Spruill Garden Project had its first harvest this past Monday. Volunteers celebrated with a champagne toast.

Master Gardener, Shawn Bard, invites you to the next harvest this coming Tuesday, June 21 at 7:00 PM

“We would love to have anybody and everybody come out for the harvest. Please be advised that this will take approximately 30 minutes. This will occur on a weekly basis throughout the growing season. However, the day and time may change due to harvest conditions.”

We will keep you posted about upcoming harvests and other garden events.

A big thank you to the garden volunteers for all of your time and effort. You reap what you sow and we are very lucky to be on the same team!

Excerpts from Tom Oder's article, Spruill Gallery hosts garden party for the ages

Shawn Bard can grow a garden. Hope Cohn can throw a party. Put the two get together on a delightful spring evening at a farmhouse with a history that spans three centuries and what do you get? A garden party for the ages.

“Look at this!” Hope exclaimed during the reception. “Everyone’s in the garden.

“The first week of May there was nothing. Just nothing. And now we have tomatoes!”

Indeed, there are not only tomatoes … but also sweet potatoes, radishes, dill, basil and various kinds of squash. Some of the plants were grown from seed, some were bought at the Dunwoody Community Garden plant sale and some were donated by a local men’s club. All of the produce will be donated to Malachi’s Storehouse, the Food Pantry at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church on North Peachtree Road in Dunwoody, or the Community Action Center serving Roswell and Sandy Springs.

The Next Exhibition

The Spruill Gallery welcomes Spring with a celebration of architecture and phase 1 of the Spruill Garden Project.

In a challenging economy architectural visions are not always realized and many innovative and creative projects never come to fruition. SITE UNSEEN recognizes our talented architectural community and presents work that shoulda, coulda, woulda.

Co-curated by Hope Cohn and artist Lisa Tuttle, the garden features a selection of outdoor sculpture by local artists and a vegetable garden created by volunteers and Master Gardener Shawn Bard. All food harvested from the garden will be donated.
